Who We Are
Jaapak is a free japa counter app built by Satish Sahu. This privacy policy explains how we handle data from users of the Jaapak app and jaapak.com website.
What Data We Collect
Jaapak App: Jaapak counts japa without an account and without a connection. Your japa data (counts, malas, settings) and profile details are stored on your device. We run no servers of our own, so we never receive, and never sell, any of it.
Google Drive Backup (optional, from version 1.14.0): You can choose to back up to your own Google Drive. Nothing is uploaded until you sign in and tap Create Backup. Signing in gives the app your name, email address and profile picture: the name and picture only fill an empty profile card inside the app (your own always replaces them), and the email is shown so you know which account is connected. The backup is one file, jaapak-backup.json, saved in a folder called Jaapak Backups in your Drive. It holds your counts, daily history, achievements, settings, custom naam list, and any custom sound files or profile pictures you added. Jaapak uses the narrowest Drive permission that exists (drive.file), so it can only see files it created itself. Nothing goes to us or to anyone else.
Website: jaapak.com has no sign-up and collects no personal data. It uses Google Analytics to count page views, and a cookie to remember your language.
Analytics: We may use basic, aggregate analytics (such as page views by country) to understand website performance. No personal identification is made.
Data Security
Your japa data and profile stay in your device's private app storage, accessible only to the Jaapak app. If you enable Google Drive backup, the file travels over an encrypted HTTPS connection and is stored in your own Google Drive under Google's security. We have no access to it. Jaapak's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
• Google Sign-In and Google Drive API: only if you enable backup and restore in the app
• Google Analytics: on jaapak.com pages, including the article pages the app can open
• YouTube: for satsang videos embedded on the website (jaapak.com)
Each service has its own privacy policy which we recommend you review.
Children's Privacy
Jaapak does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you are a parent and believe your child has provided us with data, please contact us.
Your Rights
You can delete your data at any time. Uninstall the app to remove everything on the device. If you created a backup, the app's Backup screen has a Delete button that removes the file from your Drive, and you can also delete the Jaapak Backups folder yourself in Google Drive. Signing out inside the app revokes Jaapak's access to your Google account; you can also remove it at myaccount.google.com/permissions. The website has no accounts, so there is nothing to delete.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be published on this page.
